After work we headed for Palm Springs. The motorhome is still on the storage lot at Date Palm Country Club and we just had to get it and move it to the Oasis RV Park next door. We set up in no time and then it was time to go over to John and Andy's for a drink.
John had called and asked to take us to dinner for my birthday so we went to Buscoso on Palm Canyon. I love the interior of that restaurant. It's all mid-century with a current twist.
We shared some Calamari and then I had Saltimbocca that was plenty nice. Mostly it was the company. John and Andy are two of the most genuine people on the planet. I am so lucky to have them as friends. I'll see if I have an older photo of them in the gallery, as I forgot to take pics on the evenings adventure.

I decided that since everyone at work has been so supportive and helpful to me since Steve's surgeries and my illness, I would give them a party for my birthday. So I called Phil's Barbeque and ordered up a bunch of ribs and chicken, beans and slaw. Steve picked it up for me and today we had a party for lunch.
Wini, bless her heart, baked me my favorite cake - spice cake with cream cheese frosting. It was sooo good that I really broke my diet. Yeah, the ribs didn't help either. The shop all signed a card for me and it said so many nice things that I was really moved. It's wonderful to be liked.
We went to dinner with Wini and her current date, Lee. He's from England and he is the service manager for an expensive motorcar dealership. Lamborginis and Ferraris and Bentleys. We liked him very much and he's very attentive to Wini. He is also gay friendly. Not a homophobe. Very important if he's gonna be around all of us at the shop.
We ate at Ortega's Mexican Bistro on University Ave. The food is so good there. Steve and I shared an appetizer of Shrimp Ceviche and then shared a Kobe Beef Burrito. That way the calories and volume of food wasn't too bad.
Afterward we headed over to Urban Mo's for a drink. We decided that since I had to be at work at 7:30 and Wini at 6:30 we should call it a night. Wini said that she wants to go out again some night when we don't have to call it a day so early and she can get hammered. Oh my.....

My computer crashed just after returning from Palm Springs so I am going to do some infill now that I have it back from the magic man Gil Gross, my computer wizard.
Sorry to be so far behind. Tis has been a busy and interesting week, at least in parts. I'll just put in the good stuff.

Today we met Pam, Cousins Ron and Barb and Mom at the Brigantine Del Mar for brunch. It was to celebrate my older sister, Pam's birthday.
The restaurant was very nice and overlooked Del Mar Racetrack. It was really nice to be with the family again as it is always hard to find a day that accomodates everyone's schedule.
Brunch was really good and surprisingly inexpensive. I had steak and eggs and Steve and Pam had seafood omelettes. The brunch was ordered from a menu instead of a buffet.
We gave Pam her new memory book of the trip to France. It includes her photos, my photos and Steve's. It has 117 pages and 294 pictures of our wonderful trip. She liked it very much.
After we got home I turned on my phone to get my messages. I found out that Gil Gross, the magic man had completed work on my computer. It lives!!!
I really thought it was a goner this time. I still think I had better get it into Dell for a tune-up after the new one that I ordered arrives.
But hurray!! I can back up the Quicken and copy the pics to discs and save all the stuff that we always mean to save and never get around to saving.

It was a regular work day except.....we knew that we were going to see President Clinton speak this evening.
It was the 70th birthday of the Jewish Federation in San Diego and they had arranged for him to be the keynote speaker for their celebration.
We took the trolley down to the Hyatt Regency and arrived in time to partake of the buffet dinner, which was not bad at all. We saw many folks I knew and some that Steve knew too. The Resnicks were there and The Tregers and the Gross's. We saw our attorney and her husband, the Specters, and Lynn Schenk, Grey Davis's chief of staff and consultant to Hillary, with her husband Hugh. Nice people. I think many of them were surprised to see us there as we are not Jewish.
We had a couple of drinks and headed down to the ballroom to find our seats. I saw even more people I knew.
The program was good but the highlight was being in the same room as Bill Clinton and hearing him speak. His speech was not political, but global. It was not too long and not too short. Then Murray Galinson sat with him and asked some prepared questions. Very interesting.
We left and ran into some more people I knew as we headed back to the trolley station. It was an event in my life to have seen President Clinton in person.
If only he were still the President.

We got up fairly early. It was a beautiful day in the desert. Scott was up and out with the dogs early so we got to spend a bit more time together.
We headed back to Arenas Street and had breakfast at Bongo Johnny's. We ate outside and watched the cute guys as they strolled by. We didn't break our diet too badly.
We got back to the rig and started to close it up and unhook the services. We made reservations to return in two weeks. It won't be the same without Scott here. And Chuck isn't here either. He's still in the Quartzsite area. We will still have fun.
It was hard to say goodbye to Scott. We will miss him and this time we have no expectaions of when we will see him again. The last time we thought he would be coming back to San Diego or at least going to Quartzsite in January.
This time, who knows.
I just hope he is making the right decision and that he finds happiness.
We put the RV in Chuck's storage lot and headed home in the car. It was a relatively easy drive considering the wind on the way over. We already miss Scotty.

We fed Mom's cats early and headed for Palm Springs in the RV.
We had reservations at the Oasis RV park in Cathedral City and we knew that Scott was there waiting for us. He had asked us to meet him there on his way back to Austin, TX. and we were happy to do so. It's been months and we really miss having him in our life.
The wind was horrible on the way. From Hemet over to Beaumont an d from there to Cabazon it was really bad. Thank goodness it was a head wind instead of a side wind as the gusts were up to 50-60 MPH. The wind stopped as the valley opened up and the rest of the drive was good.
We got there and set up and got to meet Scott's new dog Meg for the first time. She is really adorable but more shy than Molly. It was wonderful to see Molly, and even though I'm sure she is the same with everyone it seemed as though she remembered us. I'll pretend anyhow.
We had a couple of morning cocktails (heck, it was nearly 11:00 by then) and headed out for breakfast at Michael's on Date Palm. It's always a good breakfast and really busy on Sunday.
Afterward we visited and rested before heading out to Arenas Street and the Street Bar. Scott even had a drink?!! He seemed to be enjoying himself. We had a wonderful dinner at Plum and headed back to the Steet Bar to hear the famed songbird - Fern, whose sophisticated twin - Mona, had sung the night before (really one and the same). She was a kick and we visited with some guys sitting near us. It was a fun evening and Scott had a good time.
We headed back to the rigs. It was a busy day and hard to believe we have to say good bye and head home tomorrow.

First of all, Buster is recuperating. He has stitches in his side from the surgery to remove a cyst and he had two teeth removed so his mouth is really tender. Soft food only plus pain and antibiotic pills.
The offer was, shall we say, not up to par. The guy making the offer is sincere, but playing games. Until he comes up quite a bit, we will not respond. I'm disappointed, but still optimistic as I understand that he qualifies for more and really loves the house. We shall see.
