It was a really restful weekend. We got some little things accomplished but no major projects started or completed.
Steve got some speakers mounted in the patio. I got the sign by the pool coated with the first coat of urethane to prevent further deterioration (we like the old distressed look but it was getting worse).
Steve continues his ongoing project of putting all of our videos onto DVD's, which can only be done in real time, and with 7 boxes of them it has been a long project. He's tenatious.
We went to Tropicale, our absolute favorite restaurant, for dinner on Saturday night with Chuck. . This was the real farewell dinner as he will leave Saturday morning for camphosting in Sequioa. We will miss him, but looking forward to seeing him in the fall.
Last night we went up the mountain to meet Mark's other half Craig. He's as charming as I had hoped he would be. He has a great sense of humor and an easy manner, with great stories to tell.
In fact we had a difficult time ending conversation. From leaving the living room to go to dinner we ended up standing in the driveway talking. Finally we made it into our cars and down the hill for dinner. We went to El Mirasol and continued our incessant chatting and laughing through the meal and a while after, finally parting ways and getting ourselves home.
It was a wonderful evening and I hope there will be many more.
Today we will head home for the work week. We are hoping to finalize our loan to buy the new RV (it's a Trop-ical) and get that accomplished. It seems we are always busy, and I am so glad. With work, social life, projects, and other necessary busy work I have little time to get into mischief.
Thank goodnes.

We really had a relaxing but fun filled weekend.
Sunday was our usual breakfast at Bongo Johnny's. This weekend they had the misters working for the first time this season. We got our hugs from Travis and Humberto and headed home to the pool. (It called to us as I told you in the previous episode.)
The pool was a bit too warm for me at 89 degrees, but that is where Scott and Steve like it. (I think I will turn it back to 85 next week if the air remains as warm as it was this weekend.) It wasn't very refreshing but one didn't get cold either.
We laid in the pool getting sun for about an hour, Steve a little more. He likes to get a bit burned. I don't like it at all. We wasted most of the rest of the day. Ahhh...
Chuck came about 5:30 for cocktails, before heading over to Blame It On Midnight for the Judy show again. Chuck had never seen the show. Last week I made reservations for dinner in the lounge so we were guaranteed a table. We were right down front (second table back). Chuck enjoyed the meal and the show. It really is fun and Michael Holmes really works hard. Very funny guy.
Monday was spent running errands and laying in the pool some more. Lazing around in the heat. We went to Lowes and Homo Depot to check on the prices for disappearing screens, picked up some other stuff we needed and headed home to get ready to go to Desert Hot Springs.
We went to Chuck's rig for a cocktail and some yummy fruit and cheeses (fruit is so refreshing in the heat). Then we headed to a restaurant/bar called The Roadhouse. Interesting place.
The bartender/waitress was named Yemaya. She was an in-charge woman with a great sense of humor. She also poured a good drink. She handled the entire place by herself.
The food was basic and good. The menu had salads, burgers, a hot dog, some chicken, shrimp, a steak, and not whole lot more other than chili. It was simple and a fun place to hang in Desert Hot Springs or DHS as people call it. And the owner hangs out at The Street Bar in Palm Springs. Sounds like he might be gay and we like to patronize gay owned business when possible.
From there we headed home to sleep in our loungechairs till we woke to go to bed. Ha.
Tuesday morning we met Mitch and Dave at Bongo Johnny's for breakfast. We caught up on the latest with them and had a wonderful breakfast before going home to pack and head back over the mountain to San Diego and the work week.
Tonight we are going down to the Gaslamp Quarter to meet up with Bonnie, an old friend who moved north to the bay area a few years ago. I don't know where we will eat, probably at The Ivy, unless she has already eaten there, but I'm looking forward to being downtown and seeing our old pal. It's been too long. Time just gets away and ....... you know.
Whew.

We are back in Palm Springs for the weekend. I just can't seem to get here fast enough. I love San Diego, but this feels like home now. The weather is getting warmer and the pool is so great.
We were out last night for dinner at Azul and then headed for Blame it On Midnight to hear Gennine Jackson sing. What we got was Gennine, who was great, then Marko who sings on Wednesday. We never get to hear him, being in San Diego during the week. He was superb. I wish we could see him more often.
Bill Ramirez sang to close out the evening. He sang alone, then a duet with Gennine. What a wonderful way to end the evening.
Tonight we will see Michael Holmes in The Judy Show. We have reservations in the lounge for dinner. That is the only way you can get into that room anymore.
When we first started going to see Michael's show we could walk in a get a table during the show. Now you have to have reservations for dinner in the lounge a week in advance. The show is that good and he has really built a following quickly here in the desert. Unfortunately he and Daniel have to go back to Saugatuk, Michigan to fulfillsome other commitments for the summer. I sure hope they come back in the fall.
This will be the farewell weekend for our friend Chuck. He will be heading back to is work camper job in Sequoia National Park. He will be there till September. Man, do we miss him when he's gone.
It should be any day now that Mark and Craig return to the desert. We have not met Craig yet but really enjoyed our time with Mark when we met him at Quartzsite. We are really looking forward to their return. Hurry up guys!
Well, the pool calls.

It's a beautiful weekend in Palm Springs. The weather is nice too. But the men... Oh my. There are just too many people to look at. They are everywhere and my neck is getting really sore. Oh well.
We did have breakfast at Bongo Johnny's this morning and got a ritual hug from Travis and a warm greeting from Humberto. There were a lot of folks up at that hour considering that the big Saturday night White Party event ended just a few hours before. Everyone was in a good mood, too.
We headed home to get some pool time. We really needed to work on our tans. The locals here are getting colored up and we needed to get started. Besides, when we do go out tonight it will look good if we wear white. After all, it's Easter!
The project of the week at the house is done! Nearly. Fidel got the inside wall drywalled, taped and mudded, sanded and primed, ready for paint. Steve went right to work last night. He got two coats on most of the wall and finished early today, before breakfast!, so we could re-mount the television over the fireplace. I don't know why they couldn't put the TV cables and cords in the wall, but they didn't so we still have them to deal with, but to me, the room looks better without the windows we removed.
The outside still needs a coat of paint on the siding and the stucco needs another scratch coat and then the finish coat. But then ....on to other projects!
We are going to try to find a place to eat soon so I had better sign off for now. If we don't get somewhere and seated before the White Party Tea Dance lets out we are sunk!
Hey Ken and Marc! I hope eveything on the rig gets fixed and you are back on the road soon! Sorry you have to go through all that. Stay happy and safe!

We have been really occupied this week. first of all we, and I mean mostly Steve, have been filling out forms on the internet trying to find out about financing for the RV we are trying to buy. It is time consuming. It is also frustrating because no one wants to loan on an RV. My bank, UBOC, wanted 10.25% and would only finance for 3 years. Some would only finance 60 - 80% of the wholesale value. It's a nightmare. It looks like our only option, and the lowest interest rate, will be to get a home equity loan. We are working on that now.
We finally have the construction on the media room in Palm Springs in progress. We are removing 2 windows that we never used to get more wall space. We never opened the shutters so they were a waste. They are also on the noisy side of the house, and were metal framed so they were energy inefficient. Fidel was in the middle of it all when we had to leave for San Diego, but was doing a great job. I can hardly wait to see it finished when we get there Saturday.
Poor Maria, our maid. The last two times she has come to clean we have had windstorms. The sand and dust is awful after the winds. And this week she has construction dust. I clean up as best I can, using a swiffer and a broom but she is such a good sport. She justs does what she does so excellently. Thank you so much Maria - and Mark and Craig. What a jewel.
We had a farewell dinner for our friend Ken at The High Dive on Tuesday, our usual HD evening. Ken is moving to Tampa, Florida. He got a job there and leaves tomorrow with his lover Marc. We shall miss you Ken, especially on Tuesdays. Drive safe and stay happy.
Scott put XM Satellite radio in my car this week. We have it in the motorhome and in Steve's car and usually listen to old radio shows on the way to PS, but the selection of music is really greater than on regular radio broadcasts. Plus you can see who is singing on the display. Thanks Scotty. I really appreciate it.
Well, it's time to go to work for what is humpday for us. Steve works with me on Thursdays so we start early and work late. Then there is only 2 days work till we get back home to Palm Springs.
I am always anxious to get back to the sunny warm days.....
AND YES!! KUDOS TO VERMONT !!

Now let's see how the right wingnuts will try to deny us our consitutional rights there. It won't take them long to try. Let's hope they fail.
And let's hope the California Supreme Court pays attention to their reasoning and acts in our behalf once again. Equal rights should be just that.
